While researching for a conference, the community museum came upon the Graniceros – guardians of the water. However, due to repression for 500 years by the state and church, until today, they remain hidden in caves in order to carry out their responsibilities to water.

“We are still here”
Colonial Practices and Cultural Repression by the Municipality of Valle de Chalco against the Community Museum of the Valle de Xico. And the community response is: “It is our 25th anniversary and we are still here.”
