A Spell to Ward Off the Darkness
Co-directed by Ben Russell, 2014, digital, colour, sound, 98 mins, original version, French subtitles

Darkness, then a spell to ward it off. On the one hand, the remains of an old, abandoned house, where fragments of a domestic history once full of life, remain and are reinvested by the stuff of horror films. On the other, an anonymous character, played by musician Robert Aiki Aubrey Lowe, is followed over three seemingly disparate moments in his life: first, on a small Estonian island, second, isolated in the majestic wilderness of northern Finland, and finally, in Norway at a black metal concert.
