The three films in this trilogy, conceived in collaboration with science-fiction writer Mark von Schlegell, and whose name Urthworks is a reference to the famous dystopian novel by Brian Aldiss, offer a vision of a post-apocalyptic world. Slow Action takes place on four fictional islands, depicting a future where the sea levels have risen and formed small, isolated societies. A diary kept by the last woman on earth, Urth was filmed at Biosphere 2, the American Earth System Science Research Facility in Arizona. Finally, Look Then Below explores the caves of Somerset in an attempt to imagine future lost civilizations by merging computer-generated images and documentary footage.
