This series proposes four films on levitation, a recurrent theme in the work of Deborah Stratman. Made in response to a year of breakups and accidents, Untied is a short portrait about volatile intimacies and abusive relationships. An experimental documentary on balance, fame, and resistance, Kings of the Sky follows tightrope walker Adil Hoxur as he tours with his troupe amongst the Uyghurs of the Taklamakan Desert. Immortal, Suspended is a sequence shot that evokes different registers of suspension. Finally, Laika is a tribute to the beings sacrificed in the name of progress. The film was made based on the invitation of musician Olivia Block.
