Round table on the work of Albert Renger-Patzsch

Saturday 25 November 2017 • 2:30 PM

Jeu de Paume – Paris

Parallel to the Albert Renger-Patzsch retrospective, contributors to this round table will discuss the major themes that run through the work of this pioneering photographer: the photography of plants at the beginning of his career, the intensively creative period after his move to Essen when he worked on the industrial buildings and artefacts of the Ruhr, and his renewed interest in nature and landscape, especially trees and rocks, after the Second World War.

Art historians and photographers will explore the subjects and the style of Renger-Patzsch’s images and his influence on the young generation of photographers who are interested in landscape both natural and industrial, and in modern urban life.

With:
— Jürgen Nefzger, photographer.
— Steffen Siegel, teacher of Theory and History of Photography at the Folkwang University of the Arts, Essen.
— Anna Volz, keeper of the Ann and Jürgen Wilde collection, Pinakothek der Moderne, Munich.
— Moderator: Christian Joschke, lecturer at the Paris Nanterre University and Geneva University.

In partnership with the Institut Goethe, Paris.

Round table in the Jeu de Paume auditorium, Saturday 25 November 2017, 2.30–5.30 pm.
3 euros. Free for members and holders of a ticket for the exhibition on that day.
