There is no mysterious fatality weighing down on women
Tuesday 20 March 2018 • 7:00 PM
Jeu de Paume – Paris
Discussion with the Centre Audiovisuel Simone de Beauvoir, Créations Omnivores, FIT Une femme un toit and the Union Régionale Solidarité Femmes. Moderator: Julie Muret, intermediary for associations at the Centre Hubertine Auclert.
Jeu de Paume offers a platform for associations and institutions working to promote male-female equality, to counter violence against women and to raise awareness of sexual stereotyping, to talk about their projects. These associations will present their various initiatives: workshops, training, talks, cultural programmes, film screenings, and specialist support in the area of physical and psychological health as well as legal matters.
These associations often use writing as well as photographs and films to facilitate expression and dialogue, but also as tools for analysing the visual clichés pertaining to the representation of women in public space. In some cases, participants also run creative video workshops.
This series of interventions will also look at recent media events and actions concerning violence against women.
“Never forget that a political, economical or religious crisis is enough to cast doubt on women’s rights. These rights will never be vested. You have to stay vigilant your whole life.” (Simone de Beauvoir)
With Nicole Fernandez Ferrer, general delegate of the Centre Audiovisuel Simone de Beauvoir; Amandine Trizac-Lejemble, project manager, Créations Omnivores; Marie Cervetti, director of the Housing and Social Reintegration Centre of the association FIT – Une femme un toit; Julie Vella, agent for the Union Régionale Solidarité Femmes – Ile De France.
