Alexandre Sokourov: Hidden Pages
From 19 October 2010 to 06 February 2011
Jeu de Paume – Paris
Alexander Sokurov is well known for his aesthetic, spiritual approach to filmmaking and his dark lyricism. Less well known is the “inflection” of his voice in the presentation and montage of documents on Soviet and post-Soviet Russian history, which magnifies “the noise of time” (Osip Mandelstam). This programme will feature several chapters of these “hidden pages” that have never been seen in France before, articulated with works of fiction, essays and elegies which have been much seen and admired, and approach the same subjects, themes and characters from a variety of angles.
