“Look for a book on Amazon and then buy it in a real bookshop (Browser add-on)”.
Whereas the giant company Amazon aspires to replace every aspect of traditional, bricks and mortar commerce from food to cars, not forgetting books, Amazon Killer subtly hijacks the system by redirecting our book purchases to local bookshops. Amazon Killer, developed by digital activist Eliott Lepers, is an app that lets you use Amazon’s search tool, before it redirects you towards a site where you can reserve a copy in the bookshop of your choice. This add-on simply gets the ISBN number of the book that you are looking at on Amazon and looks it up in the regularly updated ‘Place des Libraires’ database.
