André Kertész, ma France

Maison de l’Archéologie de Bram

From 12 November 2012 to 27 January 2013

Extramural

The wanderer of the Twenties chose France. So did Kertész, in 1925. In his times, the Paris of poets and painters was a reality, that of Aragon’s Paysan (Paris Peasant) and the Revue Nègre, a timeless Paris of parks and gardens, the banks of the Seine and the Eiffel tower, a surprising accomplice in this game of hide and seek.

During his French years, Kertész worked for Vu, Art et Médecine, Minotaure. He also became friends with photographers such as Germaine Krull, Rogi André and Brassaï. He participated in exhibitions: the Salon de l’Escalier, the Dix, the Salon de l’Araignée. The adoption was a reciprocal one. Kertész in Paris was far from being an artist in transit between Budapest and New York.
