Exhibition

L'Image en Seine

Jeu de Paume at Paris Plages

From 06 July to 01 September 2024

Extramural

Paris Plages is celebrating the 20th anniversary of Jeu de Paume with a carte blanche exhibition all along the Canal Saint-Martin. From black and white to colour, the art centre is unveiling shots of Paris by the water, signed by the great names in photography who have punctuated its programme over the last two decades.

Through the lenses of Laure Albin Guillot, Aglaé Bory, Daniel Boudinet, Robert Capa, Amélie Galup, Luigi Ghirri, Frank Horvat, André Kertész, François Kollar, Jacques Henri Lartigue, Jean Mounicq, Martin Parr and Willy Ronis, the exhibition invites you to sail along the Seine and the canals of the capital, from 1900 to the present day. The exhibition looks back over 20 years of creation, discovery, inspiration and wonder, with a selection of artists who have exhibited at Jeu de Paume since 2004. This carte blanche exhibition, in partnership with the City of Paris, presents images in the public space that echo the canal, the Seine and swimming in Paris, from 1900 to the present day. It’s an opportunity for Parisians to take advantage of Paris Plages to explore a century of photography in the capital.
