Klonaris/Thomadaki: Dark Shot

Éditions A.S.T.A.R.T.I. and Jeu de Paume invite you to meet Katerina Thomadaki to talk about her new artist’s book, Dark Shot, made in homage to Maria Klonaris. This hybrid creation comprises photographs, drawings and excerpts from poems. Katerina Thomadaki will be talking to Fabienne Dumont, professor at the École Européenne Supérieure d’Art de Bretagne.
Maria Klonaris and Katerina Thomadaki are filmmakers, artists and theoreticians. Internationally known for their “cinema of the body,” for which they recently had a retrospective at Jeu de Paume, they are the co-creators of over a hundred works covering the mediums of film, performance, installation, photography and sound, and have produced a considerable number of texts. They have published Manifestes 1976-2002 (Paris Expérimental, 2003) and edited Technologies et imaginaires (Dis Voir, 1990), Mutations de l’image (A.S.T.A.R.T.I., 1994), Pour une écologie des médias (A.S.T.A.R.T.I., 1998). Their films are kept at the Direction du Patrimoine Cinématographique of the CNC (Centre National du Cinéma) and their texts and audiovisual documents are kept at the Bibliothèque Nationale de France (Fonds Klonaris/Thomadaki).
Fabienne Dumont is an art historian and professor at ÉESAB. She is the author of Des sorcières comme les autres – Artistes et féministes dans la France des années 1970 (PUR, 2014), editor of the anthology La Rébellion du Deuxième Sexe – L’histoire de l’art au crible des théories féministes anglo-américaines (1970-2000) (Les presses du réel, 2011) and co-editor of L’histoire n’est pas donnée – Art contemporain et postcolonialité en France (PUR, 2016) and À l’Ouest toute ! Travailleuses de Bretagne et d’ailleurs (Les presses du réel, 2017).

The discussion will be followed by a book-signing in the bookshop.
