In a series of discussions led by students, internationally renowned artists are invited to explore the representation of beauty in the visual arts. For this tenth installment, CHANEL and Jeu de Paume welcome Thomas Struth.
A contemporary German photographer, Thomas Struth has developed a body of work centered on large-format color photography. His series explore a wide range of subjects, from urban scenes to tropical forests, as well as portraits and museum spaces.
Through his masterful command of composition, color, and detail, he often places the human figure at the center of his images. With this rigorous and immersive approach, the artist presents a beauty that is both precise and contemplative, where reality is observed with distance and depth, inviting us to reflect on how we see in a world saturated with images.
