The films brought together in this programme reposition the time of human activity within a geological timeframe, thus offering a reflection on work and free time. Sack Barrow focuses on a small family factory on the outskirts of London, originally founded in 1931 with the aim of providing work for war invalids, in the months prior to its liquidation. After Work highlights the hidden work behind the construction of a children’s play area. I Know Where I’m Going is a fragmentary journey through the outskirts of England, along deserted roads, through untouched nature, in the company of a few loners, evoking the hypothesis of the disappearance of the human species in a near geological future.
